A child's first dental visits set the tone for every one that follows. When the room feels rushed or the instruments are never explained, the anxiety tends to stick - and it often follows them into adulthood. Parents also tell us they are not sure when to start, how much fluoride is right, or whether a tooth that looks slightly grey is worth a phone call.
Because we are a general practice, you do not need to book separate appointments at separate offices. A parent and a child can be seen on the same visit, in the same building, by the same team that already knows the family's history.
A first visit is mostly about familiarity. We count the teeth, check how the bite is developing, look for early decay between the back teeth, and let your child hold the mirror and see what we see. If everything is healthy, that may be the whole appointment.
From there, a typical recall visit includes a gentle cleaning, a fluoride application where it is appropriate, and a conversation with the parent about what is changing - crowding, thumb habits, grinding, or a permanent tooth arriving behind a baby tooth that has not yet loosened. Where a tooth needs treatment, we explain what we found and what the options are before anything is scheduled.
If a child needs care that is better delivered by a specialist, we will tell you plainly and help you get there rather than attempt it here.

Before anything else, your child sits in the chair, sees the mirror and the small suction tip, and hears what each one does. Nothing is used until they have seen it.
We count and check each tooth, look at how the bite is developing, and gently clean and polish. Fluoride is applied where it is appropriate for their age and risk.

No - we are a general dental practice that welcomes children, and Dr. Noorian is a general dentist rather than a board-certified pediatric specialist. Most routine children's care is provided here. Where a child needs specialist treatment, we will refer you to a pediatric dentist or oral surgeon.
Tell us before the appointment. We keep first visits short, explain each instrument before it is used, and stop when a child asks us to. There is no benefit in pushing through a visit a child is not ready for.
Often, yes. We are a general practice, so family members can usually be scheduled back to back in the same visit. Let us know when you book and we will arrange the times together.
Yes. Baby teeth hold the space for the permanent teeth behind them and are used for eating and speech for years. Decay in a baby tooth can also cause pain and infection, and losing one early can crowd the tooth that follows.
